Mediterranean revival, the architectural style you see all around Southwest Florida these days, is the updated version of a trend that started in the first quarter of the 20th century. If you want to see how this style originally looked in Manatee County, be sure to visit the subdivision of Palma Sola Park in Bradenton.
Business magnates such as John Ringling and Addison Mizner were credited with bringing Mediterranean style to Florida, and it looked a bit different nearly a hundred years ago. The revival style you see today combines elements of Tuscan and French country design; at Palma Sola Park, you can still find examples of the original Mediterranean and Spanish Colonial mix.
As one of the oldest yet continuously developed neighborhoods in Manatee County, Palma Sola Park offers more than just Spanish Colonial estates; there are also Florida ranch-style homes, modern Sarasota residences, and spectacular Tuscan mansions by the water.
In addition to diverse real estate, you can also find large home sites, mature trees, tropical landscaping, six neighborhood parks, a fishing pier, public docking facilities, and a private yacht club. Over the decades, Palma Sola Park has featured distinguished residents such as Major League Baseball players, retired Members of Congress, entrepreneurs, and municipal officials.
Real estate sales are fairly active in this neighborhood; as of mid-August, listings started at $289K for a spacious Florida ranch with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. A brand-new waterfront mansion overlooking the majestic Palma Sola Bay was recently listed at $1.5M; this is a three-bedroom and three-bathroom home with more than 3,300 square feet of interior, nearly an acre of land, swimming pool, and many luxury upgrades.
Residents of Palma Sola Park enjoy one of the best locations in Bradenton. The Beachway Plaza shooping center, anchored by a Publix supermarket and Staples store, is just across the way from Manatee Avenue, and this road takes you to the Manatee County beaches as well as to Downtown Bradenton.
