The homes for sale below are Florida Green Building Coalition Certified (FGBC) – “Green Homes” of Manatee and Sarasota County! In order to qualify for the FGBC certification a FGBC certified agent works with the builders, designers and home buyers to guide them through the process. Windows, doors, ceilings, air conditioner, hot water tank, lighting, appliances and everything else is meticulously chosen so it meets the comprehensive checklist that goes along with getting certified. ENERGY STAR®, energy efficient, low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) paint, eco-friendly, water conservation and solar are commonly used terms when it comes to the FGBC standards. Most of the FGBC homes that I have seen are newer homes built in the last 5 years. Many of the homebuilders in Manatee / Sarasota County are working with the FGBC to get this certification; Lee Wetherington immediately comes to mind. Speaking of Lee Wetherington, in 2007 they became the first home builder in Manatee and Sarasota County to partner 100% with ENERGY STAR®. This simply means 100% of their homes earn the ENERGY STAR® 100% of the time.
