New residential development in Southwest Florida continues, and this time a new home builder out of Georgia is entering the local housing market. Ashton Woods began developing in the late 20th century, and by 2011 it was ranked among the top 10 private home builders in the United States. The Atlanta-based builder recently purchased 18 acres near Richardson Road in Sarasota for its new Whitaker Park subdivision.
