Homes are selling in Bradenton and Sarasota! According to the Florida Association of Realtors home sales were up 31% as realtors in the area sold 1029 homes in May 2010 compared to 783 in May 2009. The month of May was the 21st consecutive month that the sales activity increased in Florida and the 11th consecutive month for Sarasota and Bradenton. Not only has the sales volume increased but so has the average sales price. May was also a good month for statewide home sales as Florida realtors sold 16,745 single family homes, an 18% increase from May of ’09.
I think that there are a several factors that are helping our local housing market recover. Yes the stimulus for the first time homebuyers helped tremendously. But that has not been the only drive. The interest rates have been at all time lows which definitely helps stretch the budget. Also the price is right. First time homebuyers, residents ready to downsize or upgrade their current living, retiree’s/baby boomers moving to the area and people like me that are sick and tired of the snow have all started to see the advantages of buying now. Don’t forget that we have great weather and beaches to go along with the great prices and low rates. Why wouldn’t you buy now?
