The Share Your Sarasota Facebook Page is up and running! This page has been an idea of ours for awhile now, but just with anything it took some thought and planning. The name, the logo, the purpose and most importantly how could we tie real estate into it were all things that needed to be considered.
The name needed to be laconic and to the point. It had to be for the purposes of the logo and the vanity URL. We chose Share Your Sarasota because “Your Sarasota” differs from my Sarasota and we would like you to “Share” it with us. The vanity URL then became: www.facebook.com/shareyoursarasota and that is achieved after 25 likes (used to be fans).
Now the logo took a little time because we needed to create an image of everything Sarasota is, but at the same time show what the purpose of the page would be. Pretty tough to do considering the size of the logo so we went with the sun, the Gulf of Mexico, palm trees and the name itself. Sarasota has the beaches of Lido and Siesta Key, the fabulous shopping at St. Armands, the history of the Ringling family, the mouth-watering restaurants of Downtown Sarasota and so much more. How do you put that into a logo?
Now the purpose was the easiest. How often does the weekend come up and you have no idea of what to do? Or better yet how often are you cruising around looking for a new restaurant only to choose a restaurant you have gone to a hundred times? That is where this page comes in. My husband and I have been on a Groupon/Living Social kick now for the last few months and our eyes have been opened to new restaurants and activities in the area. The best thing about both of them is the restaurants/activities are discounted. So we are trying to take that info, info from other sites, our personal experiences and hopefully your personal experiences and “Share” that all in one place.
