Hidden River in Sarasota is one of the most interesting residential communities in Southwest Florida. Hidden River is a favorite community among pilots and fans of the equestrian arts. There are two very good reasons for this: Hidden River has its very own landing strip, and the five-acre residential lots are ideal for keeping horses.
The Hidden River neighborhood is located in the western region of Sarasota County, just north of the upper Myakka River State Park boundary; this means that there is plenty of nature to appreciate here. The landing strip is located on the north side of the community so that it does not disturb the wildlife or residents. Pilots and horse lovers are not the only residents of Hidden River; car and motorcycle collectors enjoy the many private roads, and some neighbors use the extra space to cultivate organic farms.
The real estate designs at Hidden River are very eclectic. Florida ranch-style homes can be located next to Key West homes, and there are some Mediterranean-style waterfront estates built on the banks of the Myakka River. The lifestyle here is decidedly Old Florida; although homes are spread out far from each other, neighbors often get together at the community recreation hall.
The diversity of real estate in Hidden River presents an interesting situation with regard to pricing. For example, a two-story Florida ranch-style home with five bedrooms and four bathrooms can be reasonably listed under $270K. An impressive estate with 18 acres of pristine Florida land can be negotiated at around $1.3 million.
Hidden River is located a fair distance away from the hustle and bustle of Sarasota, but it is no means isolated. The commercial strip of Fruitville Road is just a short drive away, and it only takes 15 minutes to get to I-75 and about half an hour to get to the beaches. School-age residents from PK to 12th grade can attend Oak Park School.
