History of Venice East
Venice East has one of the more interesting histories among Venice’s established neighborhoods. Before residential development, the property was used as a tomato farm. U.S. Land Corporation established Venice East in 1960, and home and lot sales began in early 1961.
By the end of 1962, approximately 30 homes had been completed. Residents formed the Venice East Community Association in 1964 to promote neighborhood improvements and social activities.
Development expanded significantly during the early 1970s. A marketing campaign known as the International Homes program promoted Chinese-, Italian- and Spanish-inspired model homes along Golf Club Lane as Venice East continued to grow.
The Venice East Community Association’s historical records also note that the neighborhood was declared a bird sanctuary in 1975.

Venice East Community Association
