Sarasota is full of real estate surprises, and the latest is The Strand at Whitaker Bayou, a construction project that will bring a new and luxurious low-rise condominium near Downtown Sarasota. Of the 156 units planned for The Strand, 76 will feature waterfront vistas while 40 of them will face the manicured gardens and the swimming pool area.

The three buildings that will make up this new condominium will occupy the space of a former yacht club; in fact, this will allow prospective home buyers to select units that feature their own private boating slips. Some of the amenities planned for The Strand include a resort-style swimming pool, a boardwalk along the bayou, a dog park, an exercise center, and a kayak launch. An updated take on the modern architectural style of Sarasota has been chosen for this project.

Details about the floor plans are still forthcoming as of mid-2017; what is known thus far is that all units will offer plenty of interior space and at least two bedrooms. The penthouse and waterfront units will start in the low $600Ks and may include deeded private docking space. Other units will be offered in the low $500Ks and may include credits towards closings for early buyers.

The luxury factor and the location of The Strand will likely increase property values very quickly. The tranquil Whitaker Gateway Park is just down the street, and the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall is about a mile away. The performance venues and art galleries of Downtown Sarasota are close enough for a bike ride, and the St. Armands Circle Shops are about five minutes away by car. The legendary white sands of Siesta Key Beach are just ten minutes from The Strand.
